The release date of Astral Chain was August 30 and the game had to face large expectations due to the names involved and their official Nintendo Treehouse: Live E3 2019. With regard to action games, this Title has certainly enlarged the genre enormously and, given the fact that this project has experienced people, such as the fact that he was supervised by the famous creator of Devil May Cry and Bayonetta – Hideki Kamiya, we know that something serious is about to fall.
Development and Home
This title was developed by Platinumgames and published by Nintendo, for Nintendo Switch. Astral Chain was released a few weeks ago on August 30, 2019, and so far, he has managed quite well, recording about 9/10 on the most relevant publications, like IGN (9/10), Metacritic (88%) and Gamespot (8/10).
As mentioned, Hideki Kamiya supervised the game. In 2006, he directed Capcom and Clover Studios to found Platinumgames, causing with him veterans of Capcom. Takahisa Taura, one of the three directors of the game, presented their collective creation on Nintendo Treehouse: Live E3 2019, in June, and figure below:
The story
Astral Chain takes place in 2078 and represents a threat of extinction for humanity. The earth is attacked by “chimeras”, which come from the “astral plane” or the interdimensional plan. They corrupt and abolish our reality. Almost all surviving humans live on a synthetic island called The Ark, and they also managed to constitute an intervention team to fight against the attacks of the Astral plane by the Chimera. And we do it by using our own interdimensional walkers, police officers who have had their share of the astral plane. They are called the police working group on neurons and that’s where the player comes into play.
Gameplay
This game begins by bringing the player to the basic action / shooting setting, but it quickly becomes much more, and the thing lies in the gameplay configuration. In this game, you mainly embody a detective from the neuron police who, in addition to wreaking havoc and making crazy waterfalls, also resolves mysterious puzzles and hunts the chimeras through the ark. You don’t play with one but two characters at the same time…
As a member of the neuron police, you can call on your own astral familiar called the Legion, which is attached to you with a kind of chain. The Legion gives the player an immense power and, with his ordinary counterpart, the two make crazy waterfalls together. The player can even control the familiar or the host separately, because they use their combined forces to question the NPCs, examine the evidence, solve the puzzles and, of course, explore all the chimeras encountered.
Ram graphics and visual
As a Nintendo Switch game, Astral Chain really pushes the limits of this latest portable game device. It seems incredible, with all its models, its graphics and its rendering which give off a feeling of playing a PC game. It may seem even more advanced than MK11 or The Witcher III on Switch, these two games with an obvious 720p beach.
Verdict
Astral Chain Switch is a new approach to portable action games, because it offers the possibility of controlling two characters at the same time, which are beautifully synchronized to make incredible waterfalls and action sequences. Outside the fight, the game looks a lot like Batman Arkham Asylum, with a detective atmosphere in a world of science fiction. In terms of history, it is a new cool concept, which deserves to be explored and an enriching experience. The best notes!
